Description

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for delivering case management/counseling services for clients and families.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Design, implement and monitor individual program plans for clients
  • Assess client needs; investigate their eligibility for services
  • Counsel and aids individuals and families requiring agency assistance
  • Maintain client records and completes required documentation according to agency and accreditation standards. This may include, but is not limited to data entry, progress notes, activity reports, time sheets and logs
  • Coordinate client activities
  • Assist clients with accessing other services (job training, counseling, housing, medical services, etc.)
  • Network with other providers to generate community resources for participants
  • May provide supportive counseling in individual and group settings
  • May transport consumers to appointments, etc.

 

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for providing direct services to clients on parenting issues
  • Organize and oversee the daily activities of the resident children concerning their adjustment to Providence House
  • Provide intakes and short-term domestic violence counseling to children
  • Provide intake and intervention planning with parents. Help provide information on parenting skills and non-violent child rearing activities
  • Provide weekly counseling sessions for mothers as it refers to parenting styles and skills
  • Provide information, referrals and advocacy to clients. Act as a liaison with schools and youth agencies in the community
  • Facilitate weekly support groups on parenting skills and other appropriate areas
  • Coordinate and oversee special events for the children of Providence House
  • Help provide community education and public relations to individuals and groups in Ocean County on domestic violence issues as they relate to children. Provide speaking engagements, as needed
  • Participate in on-going supervision and case planning, including maintaining appropriate administrative paperwork and helping with physical maintenance of the children’s program
  • Participate in the training and supervision of volunteers assigned to work with the children’s program

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, guidance and counseling, child development, criminal justice or education. Related work experience preferred. 40-hour domestic violence training required. Bilingual preferred.

 

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED: Valid driver’s license required.

 

MANDATED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Providence House is a 24-hour residential program, as such requires staffing at all times. When accepting a position with this agency it is important to know that the regular shift at the time of hiring is subject to change during the course of your employment, and that at times of staff emergencies or special events you may be required to fill shifts other than (instead of) your regular shift. This may include holidays.
