Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Part-time

Description

Responsible for monitoring activity in multiple program areas during all hours of program operation (i.e., medical, recreational, socialization, housekeeping, and rehabilitation activities).Obtain and record individual's vital signs and laboratory test results and observe individuals for changes in behaviors and symptoms. Assists physician in examinations and evaluations of individuals, and receives, records and interprets physician orders. Administers and records orders of medication to individuals under appropriate medical supervision. Assesses and documents individual's progress, in conjunction with treatment team. Initiates and implements the individuals service plan and documents relevant information. Observe individuals for health related issues and inform treatment team. Assist clinical staff in carrying out daily program schedule by supervising individuals in assigned educational or recreational activities. Interviews individuals and collect pertinent data, such as collecting demographic information on individuals entering the program. Assist individuals with personal hygiene and grooming activities. As needed or assigned, awaken individuals in the morning or after rest periods, to ensure participation in program activities. Encourages and monitors individual's participation in the daily program schedule and recreational activities. Observe individuals at all times, as a precaution against wandering into restricted areas. Transport or escort individuals to and from the program and community activities, if assigned by supervisor. Lifts or otherwise mobilizes individuals as needed, or provides assistance with lifting. Performs necessary housekeeping activities to ensure the facility is clean and sanitary. Respond to medical emergencies and other potential crisis situations (verbal or physical) by utilizing agency approved methods, i.e., CPR, universal precautions, CPI, and other approved program procedures). Provide help to the Food Services Department as requested, and prepare meals as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in Virginia. One year of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders is preferred. Current valid driver's license and good driving record. Willingness and ability to travel and use personal transportation in work capacity. Ability to successfully complete training in, and demonstrate practical use of, CPR, First Aid, CPI (behavior intervention training), etc. Ability to successfully complete training in monitoring vital signs and proper lab test collection. Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Good written and oral communication skills. Effective problem solving and decision making skills. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours. Ability to intervene in a crisis situation and manage physical behaviors. Good organizational and time management skills. Good interpersonal skills, and ability to differentiate role with co-workers and role with individuals receiving services. Basic knowledge of community resources.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
