Prepares biopsy tissue for histological processing, including the gross descriptions and clinical history relevant for each biopsy case. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations. The Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Grossing is responsible for performing the following: Prepare biopsy tissue for histological processing Reconciliation of biopsy specimens; assures appropriate specimen accessioning reconciles specimen labeling of logs, containers, blocks, and requisitions, according to written procedures Dissection of specimens; prepares appropriate tissue for histological processing. Correlates specimen information with the laboratory pathologist as needed Gross description; accurately dictates gross description according to designated protocols and templates. Includes all relevant details in the gross description including color, measurement, number of pieces, shape, and weight. Reviews gross description to ensure accuracy and completion. Obtaining and appropriately applying the clinical information to the analysis and interpretation of the biopsy case Assists with various QA/QC initiatives and compliance with CAP and NYSDOH standards as they relate to grossing Cleans workstation between and after case dissection completing Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, sterilization of instruments and discard of waste and material properly Performs other duties as assigned   Position Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, medical technology, biology, or related field License: Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist and/or Pathologists’ Assistant, required. Experience: One year required experience in a surgical pathology laboratory including gross description and dictation of surgical biopsy specimens   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   This position is currently not accepting applications.
