The Medical Records Coordinator will support the Frederick Living Mission of caring for and enriching the lives of older adults with the following essential responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the medical record liaisons in Personal Care, Skilled Nursing and Medical Suite.
  • Maintain discharge filing and thinning of files for personal Care and Skilled Nursing.
  • Maintain security and organization of closed records per regulations.
  • Remove records within 24-48 hours, but no more than 72 hours after death or discharge.
  • Assemble and complete charts within 30 days of discharge of death.
  • Maintain discharge records control log for destruction of records.
  • Coordinate with NHA and PCA on all requests for medical records and makes copies upon Administration approval.
  • Thin in-house charts in accordance with written policy and file in chart order for discharge.
  • Submit all missing signatures to appropriate discipline for completion.
  • Coordinate with appropriate level of care to ensure compliance with physician and consultant visits and documentation.
  • Assemble and analyze all current records in accordance with state regulations.
  • Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Position Requirements

Along with an excellent work ethic, successful candidates will have:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and regulations pertaining to medical records.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Electronic Health Records (EHR) and ICD10 Coding.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
