We are seeking to hire a Senior Marine Electronics Systems Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC. Upon award, you will:

  • Conduct design of electric and electronic systems.
  • Applying knowledge of and experience with systems engineering principles and techniques, develop and evaluate moderately complex technical reports related to application of machinery control and/or C5I systems onboard USCG ships.
  • Review and evaluate the effect of new and/or modified electronics on overall system performance.
  • Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), Engineering Changes (EC’s).
  • Provide oversight for junior staff, managing a high-visibility, mission-critical program.
  • Lead engineers in development efforts, coordinate with other functional areas to complete ship design.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited institution.
  • 8 years' experience developing and integrating shipboard Machinery Control (including Electrical Power Management, Auxiliary Machinery Control, and Propulsion Control) and C5I systems (including Command-and-Control Systems, Navigation Systems, Internal Communications and External Communications Systems, Sensors and Radars, Combat Systems, and Intelligence Systems) with emphasis on design and implementation of balanced, affordable, and maintainable systems.
  • 5 years’ experience integrating C5I systems in one of the following categories: Cybersecurity, Command and Control, Navigation, Networking, Internal Communications, External Communications, Sensors, Combat Systems, or Intelligence Systems.
  • Knowledge of USN, USCG, ABS, and/or commercial ship design rules and regulations.
  • Technical supervision
  • > 1 year federal ship or boat building
  • Meets the baseline requirements to obtain DoD 8570 Information Assurance, Technical (IAT) Level II Certification. [Actual certification not required]
  • U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Experience and Certifications:

  • MS Technical, Engineering or Marine from an ABET Accredited Institution.
  • Experience reviewing and adjudicating system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specifications, Request for Waiver, or Engineering Changes.
  • Experience with DoD ACAT I or DHS Level I shipbuilding programs.
  • PE license, PMP, DHS PM Level I, II or III, or DHS systems engineering.

This position is contingent upon and subject to the award of the contract from the government. You will be hired on a contingency basis.
