About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

Valley Community Services Board is seeking licensed, or licensed-eligible clinicians to provide behavioral health and substance use services to adults and their families in individual and group settings. This position also supports VCSB's Same Day Access program, which provides quick access to services.

  • Nine paid holidays annually.
  • Accrue up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year from year one. PTO is immediately available upon accrual.

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Conducts open access intake screenings for adults and children with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Provides individual, family, and group counseling services for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, including individuals with co-occurring disorder.
  • Provides crisis stabilization and emergency services as needed.
  • Conducts mental health and substance abuse evaluations, including the evaluation of treatment needs, and develops treatment plans.
  • Administers the DLA-20 and other instruments as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with teammates and external partners to provide a range of treatments and support services.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  • Etiology and treatment of mental health, substance use, and co-occuring disorders.
  • Mental health and substance use treatments for adults and their families.
  • Emergency services and crisis intervention.
  • Requirements of clinical casework documentation.
  • Psychotropic medications.
  • Professional ethical standards governing client relationships.

Skills Pertaining to:

  • Sound judgement.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Psychotherapeutic intervention for children, adolescents, families, and groups.
  • Crisis intervention.
  • Clinical assessment.
  • Written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
  • Computer use, including Microsoft Office, electronic databases, or similar programs.

Ability to:

  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Assess client outcomes.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with individuals receiving services, their families, and their support network.
  • Work with persons from many socioeconomic and educational backgrounds who are experiencing a wide variety of mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with teammates and external partners.
  • Prioritize competing demands to effectively manage a clinical caseload.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social work or related field from an accredited program.
  • LMHP supervisee or resident in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current LCSW, LPC, LSATP, or CSAC certification.

Salary Information Starting at $45,000 annually, plus benefits.
