Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.
An 11-bed residential crisis stabilization / ambulatory detox program offering an alternative to or diversion from an acute inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. The multidisciplinary approach offers rapid access for brief intervention through psychiatry, nursing, therapy, psychoeducation, peer recovery supports, a structured milieu and comprehensive care coordination.
Delivers nursing care to individuals with mental illness and co-occurring disorders at the Regional Crisis Stabilization Center (RCSC). Assists a staff psychiatrist in the prescription, administration and monitoring of client medications; performs client assessments and other medically based treatment services and provides crisis and supportive counseling. This includes providing initial nursing assessments of individual health and mental status, analyzing data to determine medical and nursing care as needed, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs, and evaluating responses to nursing and medical interventions. Provides oversight for medication management.
Requirements:
Registered Nurse with one year of behavioral health experience. Candidate will register to practice as a QMHP-A trainee within the first 30 days of employment.
