As Retail Store Manager, you will be the face of Brownells. With a relentless focus on customer experience, the ideal candidate will use creativity and innovation to push the boundaries of what our retail experience can become. We are also looking for a servant leader who enjoys coaching and guiding each team member on their growth path. This key leadership role will be accountable for the business strategy, customer engagement, daily operations, people management, and merchandising of the Brownells retail store.

What You Will Do

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen retail store environment maintaining focus on creating a world-class customer experience
  • Lead, attract, grow and retain a highly motivated team in a customer-centric environment, ensuring team works together to create positive work environment, and that they are trained and equipped to optimize sales and maximize customer engagement/experience
  • Lead performance management, improvement, and recognition efforts
  • Model and direct customer service and selling behaviors to strengthen internal and external customer relationships and brand loyalty
  • Develop strategies to improve sales performance through the understanding of business trends and consumer behaviors
  • Develop and manage execution of the store business plan, driving results and maximizing business opportunities
  • Lead innovative project offering turnkey solution to entrepreneurs wishing to open a gun shop, key elements to include: point of sale, compliance, sales training, merchandising, and layout
  • Develop and guide efforts to strengthen relationships with pro 2nd Amendment organizations and agencies
  • Maintain accountability for total store and individual sales goals, as well as the recording of sales figures
  • Establish and oversee plans, budgets, and variable cost for store
  • Identify opportunities and develop long-term merchandising strategies
  • Lead development of Retail Customer Engagement Survey strategy to meet the organizational and store goals in partnership with the management team
  • Ensure safety and compliance with all government policies and regulations

 

What You Will Need

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field highly preferred
  • At least 7 years of retail experience – firearms/outdoor industry highly preferred
  • At least 4 years of store management experience
  • Experience with retail operations, budgeting, planning, customer service, and sales
  • Experience leading the delivery of a high level of customer service

 

Knowledge & Skills

  • Extensive product knowledge specific to the firearms and outdoor industry highly preferred
  • Knowledge of government regulatory compliance related to firearms industry
  • Ability to develop and lead high-performing teams with respect, integrity, courage, and honesty
  • Ability to effectively resolve conflicts with both internal and external customers
  • Ability to coach and develop team members to be the best versions of themselves
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Performance management skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8 to 10-hour days

 

Physical Demands

Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time, with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
