Description

Job Summary
This position will be involved in the investment accounting and reporting processes and will play an important role in compliance and regulatory reporting issues. Providing critical support to the Controller and Investments departments, this position will assist with strict adherence to company's financial controls and will research and develop key reporting for regulatory data requested from state insurance departments or other regulatory entities. This role will also support the Controller department in other capacities as needed.

  • Process all transactions related to investment securities

  • Prepare month-end reports relating to investments

  • Journal entries related to investments

  • Work with various States on statutory deposits

  • Compile information for monthly reports

  • Various reconciliations (Sch D, Banks, PAR)

  • Research problems with bonds

  • Compile information for department budget

  • Update information and resolve problems encountered with custodian banks

  • Maintain NAIC compliance relating to securities

  • Work with the investment department as required

  • Work with Controller department as required

  • Process and deliver daily bank activity reports


    Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements Knowledge, Skills & Abilities<br>&bull; Experience in an accounting role at an insurance company preferred<br>&bull; Demonstrated proven organizational skills required<br>&bull; Ability to set priorities and detail oriented<br>&bull; Strong interpersonal skills required<br>&bull; Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications <br>&bull; Investment system experience is a plus<br><br>Education & Experience<br>&bull; Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or comparable years of experience<br>&bull; 2-4 years recent relevant work experience in a staff accountant position or equivalent<br>
