Description

Individual needed as a full-time Cook for a residential alcohol and drug treatment program located in Lebanon, VA. The Laurels Recovery Center provides treatment services to adults with behavioral health and substance use treatment needs. The Cook will shop for and prepare meals for the program, to include planning weekly menus, ordering food and service items, preparing nutritionally balanced meals, maintaining cooking and storage areas in orderly, safe and sanitary condition, providing instruction/training for non-food service staff who may be assigned temporary or periodic duty in the food preparation areas, assisting with management of the program’s USDA commodities by maintaining required documentation and appropriate storage areas. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all individuals receiving services.

 

 
Position Requirements

High School diploma required, due to proper documentation requirements. Experience in a restaurant or commercial setting is preferred. Ability to lift 30 pounds unassisted. Valid Virginia driver’s license and good driving record. Willingness to work flexible hours and a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Good organizational and time management skills. Familiarity with approved food storage and preparation procedures, particularly regarding temperature control and sanitation. Knowledge of causes and prevention of foodborne illnesses. Working knowledge of menu planning and recommended dietary allowances.

About the Organization CMCSB was formed in 1972 as a Chapter 10 Community Services Board under Virginia law. CMCSB provides mental health, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse treatment services to the residents of Buchanan, Russell, and Tazewell Counties. At the present time, CMCSB operates over twenty locations, to include outpatient offices, mental health recovery programs, group homes and day support programs for intellectually disabled individuals, and a residential alcohol and drug treatment program. In addition, CMCSB has several services that are provided directly in an individual's home or in a supported environment. CMCSB also provides a 24-hour crisis team to assist community agencies and individuals in crisis situations. CMCSB employs approximately 500 employees, which include full-time and part-time employees, as well as individuals receiving services who are employed to work in various day programs.
