Your New Role At Societal:

We are looking for a Business Development Director. In this role, you will focus on representing and expanding the Drug Product Services (DPS) business for Societal CDMO.  This role is directly responsible to drive sales revenue growth through the development and implementation of strategies to generate sales from new accounts focused on the sterile fill/finish platform.  The Business Development Director builds an internal and external network to enable client success.

How You Will Make An Impact:

Generate business leads for analytical, development and/or commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing of sterile fill/finish or complex formulations for the San Diego location. Coordinate with internal and external partners to complete the due diligence, selection, proposal, quotation and negotiation processes to grow the site’s portfolio.

Maintain knowledge of all Societal CDMO capabilities (products and services) for appropriate lead generation.

Actively represents Societal by participating in trade shows, conferences and/or customer related events on behalf of the company in order to maximize company exposure and produce business leads.

Track proposal progression through coordination, support and collaboration with the Technical Evaluation Specialist (TES).  Participate and contribute to technical pricing of proposals along with TES and Finance when relevant. 

Manages, updates, maintains and records all relevant activities in the established CRM system (Salesforce.com), and shares information and background on prospective clients with the territory to Societal stakeholders.

Provide technical assistance and/or bring appropriate internal technical support to enquiries raised by current (as appropriate) and potential customers concerning new business opportunities.

Conduct initial high level technical feasibility of potential new business project(s) and follow up with missing pertinent data with the client for proposal generation.

Establishes and deepens relationships of key decision makers within assigned organizations.

Highly effective interpersonal skills to interact with a large variety of internal and external customers/clients, creating opportunities to provide a unique perspective during conversations.

Ability to effectively respond to questions from top management, technical partners, and internal and external customers/clients

Regular and reliable attendance on a full-time basis.

Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.

Embodies Societal’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department and company culture

 
Position Requirements

Ideal Candidate Will Bring:

 Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Life Sciences, Engineering, Business Management)

Generally, minimum 7 years of experience in/with sterile fill/finish CDMO industry with proven success and strength in developing strong customer relationships and translating customer business goals and challenges into company-provided solutions and services.

Benefits:

The California base pay rage for this position is estimated to be $130,000-$170,000. The base pay offered may vary or fall outside of the range provided, depending on multiple individualized factors including but not limited to candidate’s job-related qualifications, internal equity, market data and geographic location.
