Annual Salary $45,136

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30a - 4:30p

Since 1971, Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board has provided a comprehensive continuum of high-quality, essential, and community-based services to citizens of the Peninsula who are affected by mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders.  

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) provides comprehensive community based treatment services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness in Hampton or Newport News who have been unable to make use of traditional outpatient mental health services.

The MH Clinician Manages caseload assessments, individual, group and family therapy, assessments, short-term crisis intervention services, referrals, and case management services to a designated client population that includes homeless adults with mental illness and those with co-occurring substance abuse disorders.

Requirements:   Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social Work and 1 year experience in clinical/hospital psychiatric care setting including substance abuse counseling, crisis intervention and case management functions. Must provide proof of registration for supervision toward licensure with the LPC or LCSW Virginia Licensing Board within 90 days of employment or currently licensed as LPC or LCSW with Virginia Licensing Board. Must be registered with the Board of Counseling to practice as a QMHP-A.

As a condition of employment with Hampton – Newport News CSB, you are required to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID 19 or fit within an exemption under the law. Accordingly if selected, employment is conditioned on providing proof of vaccination or having an approved exemption prior to starting employment.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
