Description

The Maintenance Technician performs tasks involving physical labor at the community’s construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. The position may assist other maintenance technicians.


Functions of the Position:

  • Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials and digging trenches.
  • Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt and dirt
  • Follows all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site daily.
  • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks
  • Assist welders, carpenters, painters or other tradespeople on-site
  • Handle and transport materials and equipment
  • Use power tools and machinery when needed
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks (
  • Put up warning signs (e.g. signposts, cones) for vehicles and passersby
  • Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (e.g. scaffolding)
  • Communicates in a professional, courteous manner at all times with Supervisors, site staff, coworkers and other Senior Staff
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by Senior Staff to facilitate effective operations of the Company.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • One or more years of experience in construction
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Excellent stamina

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina.
