Primary Responsibilities:

Pono Aina Management, LLC, a subsidiary of Hui Huliau, a Global Federal Government Contracting Firm, is seeking a Technical Writer in Tampa, FL.

Responsible for creating and writing various types of user documentation, including how-to guides, references, manuals, cheat sheets, or instructions. Explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language. Work with customers to translate their functional requirements into detailed technical specifications.

The Technical Writer/Editor will provide substantive edits of baseline program documents in the TACLAN environment. In addition to correcting for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage, the Technical Writer/Editor will review and amend products for clarity, conciseness, consistency, substance, logic, classification, sourcing, format, and conformance with USSOCOM standards. The Technical Writer/Editor will provide editorial support for other written work, such as correspondence, as needed. Participates in the process of crafting and refining ideas, cultivating sources, and developing technical documents. Technical Writer/Editors require strict attention to detail and ability to review and edit content for compliance and proper use of terminology. Must Ensure edits are complete and deadlines are met.

  • Review and edit all baseline documents during quarterly or semi-annual release and ensuring to ask the correct questions of steps are questionable
  • Assist in validating Installation Manual during release periods or when required by testing the new changes and providing feedback
  • Review and edit all annual CDRLs and ensure the correct templet are utilized
  • Review and edit internal processes and ensure the correct templet is utilized
  • Take meeting minutes and upload to SharePoint page
  • Identify contextual errors, reorganize content, and edit graphics, tables, and illustrations
  • Provide editorial advice and guidance regarding DoD standards and policies
  • Exercise excellent interpersonal skills in meeting face-to-face with authors, senior reviewers, and other stakeholders

Position Requirements

Must Have Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • Secret Clearance Required
  • A proven ability to distill complex information into clear, concise text.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing and grammar skills and ability to work independently, delivering accurate initial under deadline pressure.
  • Have a minimum of 5 years in a technical or lead writing role
  • Experienced using multiple documentation tools to develop base templates and manipulate output styles.

Desired Experience:

  • 3+ Years Tactical Mission Support Experince
  • 3+ Years SOCOM Experince

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be able to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands and/or fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; operate office equipment, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and or move up to 20 pounds.
