JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Strategic Marketing Specialist position is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing, communications and public relations plans to raise the visibility of YWCA Minneapolis’ mission and programs. The position serves an integral role in creating and delivering information externally and internally, and establishing positive associations with the public and mass media on behalf of YWCA Minneapolis. This position collaborates with the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing team, department liaisons and external partners to develop integrated marketing solutions to achieve business goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strategy Development
Develop and facilitate strategic marketing and communications plans
Work with Marketing Team to develop and plan key annual marketing-led initiatives
Contribute to the process for metrics, analytics and evaluation review across the department
Serve as business unit liaison/lead business unit meetings as assigned
Marketing and Communications
Understand and interpret YWCA’s mission and key messages to external and internal audiences
Assist in the planning, development and implementation of strategic and tactical external and internal marketing and communications plans
Collaborate with the Marketing team to write and present ideas, information and design in concise, creative, compelling and persuasive ways to multiple audiences
Develop and edit copy
Lead marketing and communications review and approval process, assuring quality assurance and brand identity standards are met
Responsible for planning editorial calendars and working cross-functionally to develop and execute mission-focused external and internal communications, including blog stories, enewsletters, key print publications, digital/social media, other
Leverage mission-aligned topical issues to increase visibility and audience engagement
Understand and respond strategically to changing needs of audiences using appropriate forms and channels of communications, including print, e-communications, digital/social media, video, direct mail, promotions, etc.
Stay abreast of marketing and communications trends; identify and implement process efficiencies and project management tools
Project management and communications to support core marketing partnerships, initiatives, external partners
Build and maintain relationships with outside vendors; manage vendor invoices for approval and timely payment
Public Relations
Lead development and implementation of effective public relations plan
Responsible for media relations and proactively creates and maintains positive relationships with the public and mass media
Controls information output and handles incoming requests for information from media outlets
Prepares, sends press releases to print and broadcast media outlets
Supports crisis communications/preparedness plans
Defines and tracks key performance indicators, measurements
Promote team collaboration and communication
RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications. Critical relationships include the Marketing team, department marketing liaisons, internal and external stakeholders.
