Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Design of mechanical/electrical components and systems that utilize in house and out sourced machining, fabrication, and assembly resources.
  • Acquire quotes for components, systems, and outside services and integrate into design.
  • Drive towards a design that aligns with customer and internal requirements including budgetary considerations.
  • Communicate technical details, ideas, and concepts to engineers and non-engineers in multiple locations.
  • Coordinate with Technical Writing and CAD/Drafting department to produce accurate and clear communication of design, function, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members and customers.
  • Utilize engineering skillset combined with the broader skillset of the PTI engineering team to solve complex engineering problems.
  • Create process documentation and tools to increase efficiency.
  • Promote Lean Enterprise and support overall Power Test Lean objectives.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Must possess a high level of integrity, self-discipline, and a positive attitude.
  • Must possess a high level of Mechanical/Electrical engineering aptitude.
  • General to in depth knowledge of internal combustion engines, transmissions, electric motors, rotating equipment, thermal management equipment, fluid transfer equipment, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Knowledge of the tools and methods for testing them.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the creation of 3D models, precision technical plans, and drawings/wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing tools, techniques, and equipment (CNC, metal fabrication, plumbing, wiring, ect.)
  • Exposure to some/all of the following engineering disciplines: mechanics, dynamics, materials, vibrations, acoustics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics/dynamics, hydraulics, computer simulation, controls/electrical, software, process, and manufacturing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks while providing closure in a timely manner.

Education and/or Experience

A combination of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering plus 1-year experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Formal project management training is a plus.

Language Skills

Ability to read and understand documents such as blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write standard documentation. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Strong logic. Analytical and results-oriented problem-solving, judgement, and decision making skills.

Computer Skills

Proficient in standard Microsoft applications (Windows, Word, Excel, etc.) Proficient in Solidworks. PDM experience is a plus. Experience using ERP and CRM systems is a plus.(Visual Manufacturing and Infor CRM preferred). Expertise in using advanced Excel functions including Visual Basic is a plus.

The employee works in a manufacturing assembly environment and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. He/she is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is loud.
