Job Summary

The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for supporting, planning, improving and maintaining National Western Life's on-premise and cloud (Azure) infrastructure. Responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software and proprietary NWL applications. Analyze and troubleshoot System and Application related issues, performance and tuning, and capacity management.

Essential Functions

  • Management of Storage, Compute and Network Resources for on-premise and cloud Infrastructure
  • Utilize native Azure services to meet NWLs business and service level requirements
  • Deploying cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the development lifecycle
  • Orchestrating and automating of deployment and infrastructure management.
  • Coordinate research, implementation and deployment of security and performance upgrades as necessary for on-premise and cloud infrastructure
  • System Security, Vulnerability remediation, Backup and Recovery
  • Performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting and capacity planning
  • Advanced troubleshooting of applications and infrastructure services
  • Coordinate and collaborate deployment methodology with Developers utilizing DevOps framework
  • Work with other System Administrators on maintenance and troubleshooting of environment
  • Create and maintain documentation of systems and environments
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required
  • On-Call 24/7 rotation schedules
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Customer focused mindset
  • Must be a team player
  • Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Enterprise software products and services
  • Microsoft, VMware and Azure Certifications a plus
  • Experienced with setting up CICD pipeline for on-premise and cloud infrastructure
  • Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages
  • Experience designing and supporting enterprise core services as well as cloud deployments of these services
  • Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and LDAP
  • Experience with VMware vSphere 6+
  • Experience with Horizon View a plus
  • Honest, dependable, respectful of others and carry high ethical standards
  • Dedication to exceeding quality standards and providing services of the highest caliber
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Strong experience with Windows 2012
  • Experience working with a variety of network monitoring tools such as: SolarWinds NPM, SAM, NCM

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or possess equivalent work experience for the duties described.
  • 6+ years of experience as systems admin.
  • Experience in an Insurance or Financial services company a plus
  • Experience in HPE Blades, HPE 3PAR, and Pure Storage a plus
  • Experience in Cisco and Brocade switches a plus
