SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, provides a variety of legal support for First Security Bank's legal counsel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the legal orders and all other applicable laws and regulations. Maintain employee and customer confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential.
- Prepares drafts of Writs of Garnishment for legal counsel to review and sign, communicates with Research department regarding account holds; prepares letters to the clerk and manages the spreadsheet of filing dates.
- Manages litigation spreadsheet for outside counsel.
- Manages subpoena spreadsheet.
- Monitors electronic filing notices.
- Initial review of responses to subpoenas; correspondence with attorneys with the documents once approved; coordinates with IT to share large files; Bates numbering and redacting of documents.
- Prepares drafts of Warranty deeds, leases, loan documents for in-house loans to FSB stockholders and other transactional documents for legal counsel to review and approve.
- Manages all filing, including electronic files on the server; saves all emails to the server in subfiles.
- Legal research (for garnishments, Section 19 concerns, audit issues).
- Fields miscellaneous phone calls/issues with bank employees as needed.
- Ability to communicate professional, clearly, effectively, and confidentially, verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers, bank management, various officers at the court, law enforcement and administrative agencies.
- Ability to stay focused on numerous details and to maintain a high level of accuracy. Ability to use common sense understanding in order to communicate effectively and carry out detailed written or oral direction.
- Operate computer, keyboard, telephone, scanner, and copier. Strong computer skills including general knowledge in MS Office Outlook, typing, 10 key and the internet. High proficiency in converting word documents to pdfs, and electronically filing documents via federal and state court portals. Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Arkansas E-Filing through Arkansas courts and PACER (Federal Court) will be required.
- Must be able to arrive at work on time, work on site and work cooperatively with other co-workers.
- Complete all on-line compliance Teal Training courses timely.
- Additional duties may be assigned or required by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION | EXPERIENCE | SKILLS | SCHEDULED HOURS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed within are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Candidate must be, at a minimum, 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Past office experience in a law firm preferred.
- Previous experience in electronic filing highly preferred.
REGULARLY SCHEDULED HOURS: 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm *Extended working hours may be required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT INFORMATION
Physical Demands
The employee must possess sufficient mobility to work in and move about in a standard office setting and sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Substantial time may be spent on the telephone and working on a computer, sitting and/or standing. The employee must have the ability to hear and articulate well enough to carry on a normal conversation, both in person and over the telephone. Visual abilities required by this job include the ability to read materials in either a printed format or on a computer screen. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 10 pounds.
