The Systems Administrator is a position responsible to solve problems, correct issues and provide support for complex system issues. This position requires flexibility, patience, problem-solving, and business savvy. Technical skills and experience are a must, but situational awareness and people skills are equally important. This person will be helping other technical resources resolve difficult issues, in addition to performing network and server maintenance tasks and undertaking complex system upgrades or other projects.

Objectives:

  • Maintain and manage hardware and software on desktops, laptops, mobile devices, servers and other related equipment in primary PC and Mac environments
  • Daily interaction with our internal ticketing system to manage workload and ticket escalations.
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative.
  • Interact with users of various technical skill levels to assist in resolving technical issues.
  • Perform technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, DNS, routers, firewalls, and security
  • Utilize and support remote monitoring and management system.
  • Responsible for maintaining system efficiency and performance.
  • Managing support requests, keeping key stakeholders informed of incident progress, impending changes, or outages, etc.
 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree; Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or similar experience.
  • Certifications or equivalent skill: CompTIA (A+, Net+, Server+, Network+, Security+), Microsoft, (Server, Microsoft 365, Azure), Cisco Meraki, VMware.
  • At least 3 years of solid work experience in a network or system administration role.
  • Experience in large or enterprise level systems a benefit.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools with various tools (Windows Terminal, PowerShell, MS Graph)

Essentials Skills and responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting skills for PC/Mac
  • Microsoft 365, Azure, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint support
  • Networking Devices (Firewalls, Switches, Access Points)
  • Windows Server experience in design, management, and troubleshooting in
    • Active Directory
    • group policy
    • distributed file systems
  • Hardware virtualization platforms, management of both physical hosts and virtual infrastructure.
  • On-premises / cloud backup Disaster Recovery
  • Security solutions and best practices, including
    • malware detection and response
    • PKI and cryptography
    • email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, DNSSEC)
  • Phone system configuration and troubleshooting
  • Business applications troubleshooting and management
  • Mobile Devices / Mobile Device Management
  • Project management to deliver projects on agreed upon timeline and budget.
  • Develop, maintain, and document installation and configuration procedures.
  • Conduct intermediate to advanced troubleshooting and setups.
  • Administer servers, computers, printers, network equipment and mobile devices, software deployment, updates and patching, and cloud platforms.
