GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Arena Sales Manager will promote and sell Athens as a destination for arena and trade show events and will be selling space rental and packaging for The Classic Center Arena, specifically focused on contacting, negotiating and building relationships with new clients. This position's main objective is to maximize room nights to our community by maximizing this new community asset thereby, maximizing the economic impact of tourism through group sales. This position requires a proactive, motivated and skilled salesperson adept at meeting and exceeding stated deliverables on a regimented timeline. Position reports to Director of Sales of the CVB.

TYPICAL WORK ROUTINE INCLUDES, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

1. Understand and follow the booking policy of The Classic Center in prioritizing various pieces of business to be considered.
2. Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed space rent goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls and written communication. Main focus will be events for the Arena to include, sports, competitions, trade shows and conventions.
3. Maximize space rent by selling all facets of The Classic Center Arena, working with the individual needs of each client and exceeding expectations.
4. Research and identify sports tournaments and trade shows/expos with potential interest in the Athens area.
5. Work with local sports/recreation partners to understand and capitalize on sports tourism market and address specific planner needs.
6. Build and sustain customer relationships at multiple levels. Foster ongoing relationships through persistence, professionalism and organization. Follow-up with accounts on a regular basis.
7. Coordinate with the CVB and Classic Center Sales Team members to effectively and efficiently process incoming Arena and trade show/expo sales business.
8. Work with the ticketing, marketing, theater, and arena management to understand the intricacies of booking ticketed events.
9. Exceed stated benchmarking expectations on monthly and yearly basis. Both for prospecting and bookings. Work with CVB and Classic Center Sales Teams in order to prioritize and execute sales calls, maintain account relationships and increase new account sales.
10. Communicate both verbally and in writing to team members to ensure high quality of service to customers.
11. Be familiar with industry trends, competition and key customers within the region. Target selected customers for sales calls, ensuring focused delivery and execution of sales pitch.
12. Initiate cooperation and participation in the sales pitch as needed from the classic center and cvb team associates.
13. Represent Athens CVB at sports trade shows and association meetings.
14. Assist sport meeting planners and clients with identifying sponsorship opportunities.
15. Specifically hit the predetermined opening goals as outlined by the president of the classic center and be aware of the professional studies that outlined success for the new arena and strive to beat the predictions.
16. Regularly hold regional sports council meetings to identify needs of our region and assist them with holding major regional sports activities in Athens as possible
17. Be familiar with the overall inventory of Athens to include but not limited to hotels capacities, parking, dining, and seating and meeting capacities to host major association business
18. Be come an expert in all large association groups through out the state and endeavor to find ways to market to, be friend them, and ensure we meet and exceed their needs in a way that will drive them to Athens and make Athens their favorite location in the state.
19. Become familiar with all software and reporting needed to be successful in this position to include but not limited to salesforce, Ungerboeck, and current ticketing system.
20. Become The CVB expert on the details of The Classic Center and the new arena as many of the associations will require meeting facilities beyond the Arena.
21. Position is expected to attend both the sales and operations meetings of the classic center.
Other Responsibilities:

The Arena Sales Manager will work closely with the Director of Sales to target selected customer groups throughout the year. The Arena Sales Account Executive will be familiar with all operating policies and procedures of The Classic Center and will perform such other duties, functions and special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Sales and/or the Executive Director.

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum high school education or GED, with one (1) year outside sales or B2B/ hospitality sales environment. College degree preferred.
2. Ability to handle multiple priorities and follow directions with minimum instructions. Ability to work independently as necessary.
3. Proven track record or meeting and exceeding sales quota. Demonstrated collaboration and negotiation skills.
4. Positive attitude, high motivation level and a passion for The Classic Center.
5. This position requires frequent walking and standing. This position requires lifting and carrying objects up to 10 lbs.
6. Proficient with computer software programs, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office.
7. Able to hear, see, and to read and write English.
