Location: Gaithersburg, MD

We are currently seeking rising junior, senior and/or master/PhD students working towards a degree in biology for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2023.

 

Objectives/Goals of the Position:

Provide hands-on experiences through laboratory experiments and drug development-related research: specifically developing /optimizing an ex-vivo assay to investigate human B/T cell activation/differentiation which is a key process for development of autoimmunity/SLE.

Provide experience and training for a student in biology, focusing on drug development, cell biology, and immunology

 

Primary Duties:

  • Develop experimental plans/protocols with guidance and execute experiments.
  • Develop and optimize novel human in vitro and ex vivo assays to assess immune functions.
  • Design and perform human primary immune cell isolations and functional assays including flow cytometry and ELISA assays.
  • Work in highly collaborative manner in a multidisciplinary team in a matrix- environment.
  • Write protocols, methods and provide scientific interpretation of results.
  • Present data at lab/departmental meetings.
 
Position Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or graduate program
  • Bachelor of Science in immunology, biology, biotechnology, or related field of study.
  • Experience with molecular/cellular techniques, cell culture (Preferred but not required).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Highly motivated individual with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Some previous laboratory experience.

Minimum GPA 3.0+
