Job Summary
The Shop Foreman is generally responsible for the implementation and maintenance of safety equipment (Safety trailers; SABA / SCBA breathing apparatus; fall arrest equipment, emergency road side kits; Gas Detection etc.); the maintenance and repairs of vehicles; the safety and maintenance of the facility, company property, the yard and the supervision and safety of all personnel working in the shop.
Directly report to: Station Manager
Duties/Responsibilities
• Report regularly to the Station Manager or designate for the daily ongoing activities and forecasts
• Daily supervision and training of shop staff
• Review and assign tasks to shop personnel, ensuring timelines will be met
• Inspection, cleaning, testing and minor repairs to the breathing apparatus
• Ensure continuous communication with other departments when necessary, such as Fleet, Electronics QA/QC.
• Monitoring and maintenance to the breathing air compressor
• Supervision of inspections on equipment (testing of the breathing apparatus, Gas detection equipment; loading / unloading of safety trailers)
• Supervision of the general maintenance of the building and all additional structures
• Pick-up or delivery of items to and from the local business area
• Ordering supplies required for shop or repairs and maintenance of equipment
• Arranging for third-party repairs and maintenance of equipment
• Any additional duties required by Station Manager
Required Qualifications
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to multi-task to ensure multiple jobs and tasks are being completed within the timelines provided
• Excellent problem solving and trouble shooting skills
• Mechanically inclined
• Good vision / hearing
• Attend work clean shaven each shift
• Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
o Working at heights and / or climbing ladders or stairs
o Working in small / confined spaces
o Lifting up to 50lbs
o Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
o Sitting / driving
o Bending / kneeling / crouching
o Standing / walking for long periods of time
o Working in adverse weather environments (heat / cold) and conditions (rain /wind / snow)
• Previous relevant safety experience and / or minimum 3 years field experience with
knowledge of equipment

• Standard First- Aid / CPR
• Valid unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated.
