Measurement Incorporated (MI) is seeking teachers to fill the temporary positions of Readers/Evaluators during the upcoming scoring season. We are a diverse company engaged in educational research, test development, and the scoring of tests administered throughout the world at all grade levels. Our company has grown to be the largest of its kind by providing consistent and reliable results to our clients. We can do so through the efforts of a professional and flexible seasonal staff.

Readers/Evaluators will score Smarter Balanced and CAASPP student responses. The hiring process will take place from January 3, 2023 to April 10, 2023 for assignments starting in early April and ending in June. If you are hired as a Reader/Evaluator, you will be placed into our qualified reader pool. You will be eligible to work on the portions of the Smarter Balanced project (i.e., Brief Writes, Math, or Research) that fit your qualifications and schedule.

Important Information for All Applicants

  • The base pay rate for a Reader/Evaluator is $15.00 per hour. However, pay rates for Educators vary depending on residency. For more information please contact HELPSPOT and Submit a Request to our Payroll group).
  • Flexible day and evening hours are available for most work assignments. Available workdays and times will be provided when a job offer for a specific project is extended to you.
  • You must have a computer that meets our technical requirements. Please check the requirements HERE. If your system does not meet our technical requirements, please do not apply.
  • Measurement Incorporated requires all seasonal staff to have a completed Form I-9 on file. In many cases, a completed Form I-9 with a verified start date is good for three years but there are exceptions. For specific information about our Form I-9 process we encourage you to visit Chapter 2 of our Training and Scoring Knowledge Book .
  • Readers/Evaluators are required to register an account in our payroll system. It is preferred that you set up direct deposit. Registered Returning Readers should update direct deposit information if applicable. (See USVI Educators section below) *
  • Payments are made every other Friday for the preceding two-week pay period. (See USVI Educators section below) *

* U.S. Virgin Island Educators:

  • If selected, you will be asked to sign an independent contractor agreement with Measurement Incorporated.
  • You will submit a timesheet and consultant voucher at the end of each two week pay period.
  • You will receive payment on or before the fifteenth (15th) day of the following month.

Important Information for Returning Applicants

About the Reader/Evaluator Position

  • A Reader/Evaluator is expected to follow the requirements of each project assignment. Training and scoring times for some projects may not be as flexible as other projects.
  • Each project has its own scoring criteria; therefore, we conduct paid training at the beginning of each project.
  • A Reader/Evaluator must be able to accept and apply the scoring criteria as directed and maintain consistent and reliable scoring results throughout the project.
  • A Reader/Evaluator must be willing to operate in a repetitive task situation while maintaining confidentiality and project security.

  • Certified to teach in the U.S. Virgin Islands or a state participating in the Smarter Balanced/CAASSP Assessments: CA, CT, DE, HI, ID, MT, OR, SD, and WA.
  • Currently teaching in the U.S. Virgin Islands or one of the following states: CA, CT, DE, HI, ID, MT, OR SD, and WA.
  • Access to a home computer, password protected high speed internet access, and a work area that can be secured. NOTE: our project security requirements do not allow public computers or computers licensed to another business, unprotected and public WIFI or networks, or workstations located at a public place or at another place of business.
