JOB SUMMARY:

In this position you are primarily responsible for achieving membership sales revenue and retention targets. As a Membership Advisor, you will interact with guests, prospects and members on a daily basis, creating a welcoming, supportive and inclusive experience for everyone in our fitness facility.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Membership Sales

  • Maintain or exceed 80% of sales goals monthly.
  • Greet, tour, sell and cross-sell prospects interested in YWCA membership and programs.
  • Ensure accuracy with scholarship and health insurance reimbursement programs.
  • Maintain and actively follow up with a prospective member pipeline to ensure monthly goal achievement.
  • Make phone calls to prospective, current, and cancelled members to encourage new sales, retention, and renewals.
  • Positively respond to telephone calls from prospective members inquiring about new memberships.
  • Implement marketing promotions and strategies.
  • Effectively promote and sell the YWCA of Minneapolis, its mission, and membership benefits during assigned networking events at community health fairs, local organizations, and industry trade associations.

 

Provide Excellent Customer Service

  • Accurately answer any and all YWCA service related questions.
  • Respond to customer service concerns, questions, suggestions, and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members
  • Actively communicate the YWCA mission to guests, prospects, members, and public.

 

Administration

  • Utilize daily tracking systems for incoming calls, emails, new member inquiries and tours conducted and sales reporting requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry and form completion for all new and renewing memberships as well as membership holds, cancellations, and membership changes of information.
  • Complete accurate computer data entry and account set up, cash register transactions and daily deposits.
  • Enforce YWCA Health and Fitness policies and procedures in a positive manner, demonstrating consistency, fairness and good judgment.
  • Participate in Health and Fitness department meetings and trainings.

 

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

Position reports to the General Manager at the Uptown location, the Member Services Coordinator at the Downtown location, and the Sales Coordinator at the Midtown location. Position will work closely with other Membership Advisors from the other YWCA of Minneapolis locations. Other key relationships in which this position will work closely with include the Manager on Duty, membership accounting team, and YWCA members and guests.

 

 

Wages:  $15 per hour

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Have a minimum of one year of successful sales experience.
  • Possess strong organizational and planning skills and a superior attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Demonstrate superior communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage conflict in potentially stressful or difficult situations when responding to customer concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting as well as in independent situations. Ability to work effectively under stress of increased work load during peak hours of the day or during peak season.
  • Model excellent communication, teamwork skills, and the YWCA mission through cross-departmental work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, public relations, business, marketing or related field.
  • Sales experience preferably in a consultative selling environment.
  • Experience or knowledge in the health and fitness field.
  • Bilingual Spanish or Somali.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Required to walk regularly. Occasionally required to sit, stand, use hands,
  • Noise level in the environment is usually moderate.
  • The position is eligible for the standard break policy according to Minnesota state law.
  • Travel to other locations is required 3% of the time.
