Description

SUMMARY

This position trains, coaches and mentors and monitors production employees to assure Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and all required employee inspection tasks are fully implemented and effective to support acceptable product flow with minimal defect creation to support daily production and customer needs. This includes daily participation and support in containment activities as well as escalation investigation support. This position is responsible to effectively train employees to perform inspection activities and assure the accurate reporting of inspection data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

This position is responsible to follow all policies and procedures regarding ISO 9001 / IATF 16949, APG procedures and policies, work instructions and customer specific requirements.

  • This position is responsible to train, monitor and support operators to validate their understand and ability to effectively work within the Plex process control system meeting inspection requirements and timing to assure only conforming product is flowing downstream to the next operation.
  • This position is responsible to identify and train employees on reaction to non-conforming materials including, identification, containment (bookending / segregation) at the operation to prevent defect escapes and prevent excessive over containment.
  • This position is responsible to validate all necessary gages to properly perform the specific inspection required are in place at point of use and the calibration is current and known (identified).
  • This position is responsible to monitor and validate conformance of all processes and product in production each shift.
  • This position is responsible to communicate any finding of non-conformance to the shift Supervisor and support with the Fast Response Escalation process (investigations, containments, dispositions, etc.) as required.
  • This position is responsible identify safety, inspection and quality risks that could lead to a potential injury or defect and report these findings directly to their supervisor.
  • This position is responsible is responsible to participate in practical problem-solving activities to drive and implement process improvements throughout our business.
  • This position is responsible is responsible to follow all and participate in the housekeeping policies and practices in all areas of manufacturing.
  • This position is responsible to monitor employee performance and record and report employees risks to Supervision to provide additional training or support to mitigate quality risks in production.
  • This position also includes the ability to perform primary duties and provide back up support for the Lab Technician - Class B when required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, six months experience in floor inspection or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be willing to attend and complete training classes and seminars as required. Computer experience is required. Must possess good people skills, be self-motivated, and self-driven with the ability to multi-task.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in Quality Assurance is usually moderate and loud on the production floor.
