All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected by law.   Category Logistics   Description JOB DESCRIPTION: The Logistics Support Specialist position provides support in various areas, including but not limited to acquisitions, warehousing, packaging and shipping, for the Warehouse Logistics Support Services at Naval Munitions Command (NMC), Yorktown, Virginia.   Position Requirements REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in material handling warehouse operations (storing and issuing materials); A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in performing shipping and receiving duties; Experience packaging items for shipment; Experience loading and unloading materials from transportation vehicles; Ability to work with a high level of independence to accomplish required tasks; Good written and oral communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software packages; Database skills is desired; Demonstrated ability to utilize web browser to track shipments; U.S. Citizenship; RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Essential/Typical Duties: Provides expertise in the areas of acquisition, receiving, storeroom storage and issuing, warehousing, packaging, and shipping of Government, commercial, and company owned property and materials; Performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the storage plan; Verify materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damage; Inspect material receipts and identify materials for rejection; Route materials to prescribed storage locations; Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods; Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials; Examine stored materials and report deterioration and damage; Remove material from storage and prepare for shipment; Operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties; Support the PM and Inventory Manager with the disposal of equipment and materials dispositioned by the Government as excess or scrap. Non-Essential Duties: Provide support for other related duties, as required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Often – Climbing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Hearing, Seeing, Talking Lifting/Moving Requirements: Requires the individual ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Environmental Conditions: Generally works in and outside of environmentally controlled work areas. Potential exposure to harsh or hazardous compounds and chemicals. Extreme weather conditions maybe encountered.
