Mission:

The Wounded Warrior Regiment provides leadership and ensures compliance with laws and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations related to the support, recovery, and non-medical care of combat and non-combat WII Marines, Sailors attached to Marine units, and their family members in order to maximize their recovery as they return to duty or transition to civilian life.

 
Position Requirements

Major responsibilities include (not all inclusive):

The objective of the RCC East Coast is to provide WWR subordinate units with solely dedicated individuals that facilitate synchronized actions between the Battalion Headquarters, Camp Lejeune, NC, Detachment locations, the RT, the Program Manager, and WWR Headquarters. The Coast Lead RCC is the single point of contact within their area of operation (AO) and provides the Battalion Operations Section and Leadership local updates on RSM care and RCC program activity. The RCC Coast Lead has the same tasks and duties as an RCC, with a reduced ratio of no more than 1:10.

  • Assign an RCC to an RSM once the RSM is approved by the Government to receive RCC support;
  • Assign tasks to assigned RCCs, coordinate and report on tasks that originate from the program management level Collect, analyze, and review assigned RCC performance data;
  • Deliver initial, annual, and remedial training within their respective AO for RCCs and other individuals working directly with and in support of RSMs. Training is in accordance with the DoDI 1300.24 and WWRO 3001.1;
  • Directly engage with and supervise an RCC that has not completed training requirements, yet is assigned an RSM;
  • Provide feedback enabling PM to recommend changes to orders, policies, and procedures; Maintain cognizance of all potentially high-visibility cases, as defined by the Government, and virtually attend the monthly high-visibility brief;
  • Conduct internal quality assurance measures per DoDI 1300.24 and WWRO 3000.1 to ensure all Individualized CRPs are developed, generated, completed and updated via the DoD-CMS, the Marine Corps Wounded, Ill and Injured Tracking System (MCWIITS), and any other platform as directed by the Government. Systems are accessible via the internet and require a CAC enabled machine.
  • Disseminate updates of information pertinent to RCC responsibilities to all RCCs within the Area of Responsibilities (AOR);
  • Organizes project progress meetings upon request of local commanders;
  • Report RCC program issues to the PM

Skills / Certifications:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skill set, including negotiating skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remote from direct program management support or supervision
  • Familiarity with Veterans Administration benefits, medical care coordination, as well as, Disability Retirement List (temporary and permanent), and various separations from military service
  • In depth knowledge of Marine Corps culture

The RCC Coast Lead must have the ability to:

  • Lead a geographically dispersed team;
  • Collect and review data from multiple data sources;
  • Apply critical thinking to assisting developing, generating and updating all individualized CRPs;
  • Perform tasks with initiative and operate independently
  • Display exceptional interpersonal skills, strategic problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills

Education and Work Experience:

RCC Coast Lead minimum skills, experience, education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social science OR a minimum of five years’ experience as Coast Lead

Highly Desired:

  • Military Experience
  • One year experience in outreach and support operations related to WII and veterans
  • Experience associated with helping, supervising, and Benefits Counseling for military members; and/or in a civilian community service setting
