Sales Operations Manager (Frontier) 

Description

The Sales Operations Manager, working out of the Frontier office in Newark, Delaware, is an integral position within the organization and works closely with the Senior Vice President, Vice President – Sales, Director-Client Services and the Project Management team. This position will manage the customer experience through the onboarding and renewal processes inclusive of developing proposals to meet client needs and resolving problems within the organization that impact total customer experience.

Customer base is pharma, bio-pharma, academic and med research organizations in the Life Sciences Industry; specific focus and interaction with lab operations, compound management and business management professionals within customer base.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Manages and supports sales operations; ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. May include some or all of the following specific duties:

  • Develops proposals to meet client needs, understanding costing and pricing considerations for quotations of specific discovery tasks.
  • Defines client requirements in functional specification documentation, liaising and interpreting between client and Operations staff. Adjusts project scope and pricing as necessary, with the ability to offer value added services to client and increase revenue.
  • Hosts client site visits and facilities tours. Brings in appropriate management and operations personnel for existing or potential projects leading discussions and review.
  • Writes sales reports, forecasts and updates. Helps to to identify new opportunities within current accounts. Supports quotations negotiations.
  • Determines and assesses customer requirements, makes appropriate product and service recommendations and works closely with the Vice President – Sales, Senior Vice President, Director-Client Services and the Project Management team.
  • Triages both customer and internal requests related to sales; acts as first point of contact with customer when relevant and throughout the onboarding process
  • Works with customer, project managers, sales team, operations, during onboard and renewal process
  • Identifies and implements sales process improvements as a result of root cause analysis of issues
  • Meets with customer to train on ordering process in web interface
  • Manages and reports on all data analysis metrics needed to justify sales and marketing acceleration.
  • Provides lead management, process optimization and communications
  • Identifies key areas of our customer needs and their business set-up
  • Partners with finance team on sales reporting and projections as needed
  • Supports customer-facing reporting and presentations
  • Stays up-to-date with new product and services offering
  • Forward upselling and cross-selling opportunities to the Project Management or Sales team
  • Project support as needed
  • Ability to maintain regular, consistent office hours and schedule
  • Travel up to 10%

Education and/or experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Chemistry, Biochemistry or similar field
  • 5+ years’ experience with external customers; focus on customer service practices and understanding of sales principles
  • 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry lab experience or compound management; or
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Office and/or business experience within chemistry services organization preferred
  • Strong customer service skills required; is able to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and can gain trust and respect
  • Strong communication skills; both verbally and written; can adjust communication to fit the audience and the message
  • Ability to proactively identify issues, troubleshoot and problem solve is critical
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team
  • Experience and strong ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously; can orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish goals

 

Computer Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office required
  • Experience with or working knowledge of various ERP (including NetSuite), CRM, or Jaggaer systems preferred
  • Above average computer skills and analytical capabilities; very strong excel experience preferred
