Job Summary
The Fire Extinguisher Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, recharging and testing fire extinguishers to ensure compliance for purposes of equipment certification.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Inspect, repair, recharge and test fire extinguishers to ensure compliance for purposes of equipment certification
- Report regularly to the Fire Services Supervisor for the daily ongoing activities and forecasts
- Inventory Fire / Scott air equipment in and report any missing or damaged items
- Work with customers regarding repair costs or sales of equipment
- Clean, test and inspect equipment
- Assist other personnel as required
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management
Required Qualifications:
- Above average trouble shooting skills
- Previous experience working with fire suppression equipment, ability to inspect, knowledge of repairs, required maintainenance and testing
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Good vision / hearing
- Physically capable of performing the following tasks:
- Lifting up to 55lbs
- Pushing / pulling (tools / objects)
- Sitting / driving
- Bending / kneeling / crouching
- Standing / walking for long periods of time

Required Certifications & Training
- NFPA 10 (Fire Extinguisher Maintenance and Certification) is considered an asset
- NFPA 1962 Standards for Inspection, which includes inspection, care and use of fire hose, couplings, nozzles and the testing of fire hoses is an asset
- H2S Alive is an asset
- Standard 1st - Aid / CPR is an asset
- Valid unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated.
- Conduct equipment maintenance procedures at the field level
