Location: Gaithersburg,md

We are currently seeking a rising junior and/or senior candidate working towards a degree in Chemistry, Physics or Chemical Engineering. for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2023. 

Objectives/Goals:

The goal of this position is to maximize the column lifetime of a novel resin with platform potential.  In achieving an effective cleaning solution that extends resin lifetime, physiochemical stability of the resin must be maintained while causing no impact to process performance and product quality. Gaining in-depth understanding of the balance between effective cleaning and ligand stability would help select the most appropriate cleaning strategy for future projects.

  • The intern will screen chemical components that offer high alkaline pH cleaning of a packed column
  • The intern will pack columns and prep buffers
  • Execute experiments on an AKTA to generate dynamic binding break through curves and present study progress to the group or wider audience

Primary Duties:

  • Execute experiments and evaluate the data
  • Communicate findings to mentor
  • Organize results in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
 
Position Requirements
  • Good documentation, writing and communication skills are required
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0+
  • Basic understandings on separation principles for chromatographic purification
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Unicorn is a plus

 Students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date

GPA Requirement: 3.0+
