GENERAL OVERVIEW
In order to be effective in meeting the facility and operational needs of the Schools the Safety Coordinator is responsible for the health and safety of the SMART program through the safety plans of the contractors awarded projects. The safety coordinator is responsible for the accurate monthly reporting required for this position. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for developing working relationships with the construction providers that are predicated upon respect and trust.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Review contractor's safety plans work with stakeholders to coordinate that they are being followed daily
2. Work with user groups to develop health, safety and security standards for construction projects on-going in occupied buildings
3. Conduct safety observation reports on a regular basis, depending on the length of the project
4. Attend safety walks and inspections before or during each project to analyze safety risks
5. Educate PMOR team on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation
6. Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
7. Investigate accidents that occur onsite and identify possible causes of the accident
8. Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents and related events
9. Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
10. Coordinators responsible for reporting and will make sure that all forms of safety-related reports like training records, accident reports, and any other relevant workplace reports are well-documented. This includes for monthly reporting - summaries of incidents and relevant photos with explanations.
