The Senior Mission Planning Support Engineer (MPSE) will provide mission planning support to the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Mission Planning & Execution Program (SOMPE) for the Naval Special Operation Forces (NAVSOF) Depot.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Download, and install map updates in support of the NAVSOF/Tactical Local Area Network (TACLAN) Images.
  • Will image and deploy NAVSOF/TACLAN Images.
  • Accomplish file download, installation, test, and support of Microsoft Windows and Android based systems.
  • Will perform on-site installation, operation, maintenance, and system administration of the SOMPE suites.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years mission planning experience in a Special Operations Forces (SOF) environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience using Microsoft OS and Android OS applications on PC/Android hardware.
  • Will possess a thorough knowledge of mission planning related software and hardware.
  • Minimum of five (5) years, within the last eight (8) years, operational experience with Special Operations at Special Forces Group, Civil Affairs, MISO, Ranger Regiment; Sea, Air, Land (SEAL); or Special Tactics Group/Squadron.
  • Minimum of five (5) years operational experience with organization’s computer systems, communications, mission equipment, and planning techniques.
  • Will require an understanding of Windows 7 and later/Android client operating systems.
  • Will possess knowledge of networking hardware and software in a mission planning environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of mission planning software and related hardware required.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of troubleshooting, imaging, and deploying the NAVSOF/TACLAN Images.
  • Knowledge of McAfee VirusScan and apply computer security policy, procedures, and protective measures.
  • Will have familiarity with the assigned component’s tactical Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Possess a working knowledge of Portable Flight Planning Software (PFPS) and platform (aircraft, ground vehicle, etc.) interface software.
  • Will be familiar with Video capture and sound applications.
  • Possess an in-depth knowledge of the SO Aviation, Ground, Maritime or Theater SOC organizational structures, intelligence structures, functions, and procedures, as well as command relationships and responsibilities.
  • Will be familiar with the wide range of SO weapon systems.
  • Operational experience with navigation and/or mission planning techniques including preparation and validation of planning products and outputs required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related discipline; or Technical School Certificate related to computer systems; or the equivalent military training.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A+ CE, CCNA – Security, Network+, or SSCP highly desired.
  • Must have Security+ certification OR be able to obtain within the first six (6) months from the date of hire.

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Will meet the Mission Planning Support Information Assurance (IA) qualifications.
  • Will understand relational database structures and possess knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL Server.
  • Have first-hand mission planning skills and knowledge related to the Special Operations deployment environments.
  • Have good customer relations skills, be able to meet project timelines, be detail-oriented and a self-starter.
  • Will possess technical writing skills to include drafting lesson documents, and peer review of documents created by others.

Security Clearance:

  • Secret security clearance required with ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

US Citizenship: This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
