Job Summary

The Specialist, Production Art is responsible for processing and cataloging production art and other graphic art materials. This is a part-time (20-24 hours per week) position in the Graphic Arts Department of the Margaret Herrick Library and reports to the Supervising Archivist, Graphic Arts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organizing and processing new and old collection
  • Creating original catalog records in Axiell Collections
  • Assessing materials for conservation, housing collections, and performing metadata cleanup.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Art degree in film studies, history, or art history required
  • Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree preferred
  • Prior library or archives experience, preferably in a special collections environment
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, film history and research required
  • Understanding of archival principles
  • Familiarity with preservation techniques and condition assessment
  • Fluent English-language communication skills
  • Practiced in handling fragile materials

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit at a computer and enter data for long periods of time
  • Ability to retrieve and refile heavy boxes from shelving units using ladders and stepstools

The expected base hourly wage for this role is $21.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
