JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Engineering Technician will perform complex technical tasks to assist engineers with electronic systems and technical activities relating to product development.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs engineering activities such as, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems and experimental design circuitry including DO-160/MILSTD-461 qualification testing.
  • Construct, fabricate, design and test, engineering test fixtures and cable harnesses from engineering drawings and verbal instructions.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain thermal chambers, vibration systems, and engineering fixtures as required. Will also include preventive maintenance of test fixtures, cables, thermal chambers, vibration systems and a variety of other equipment.
  • Write/redline test procedures, schematics, drawings and preventive maintenance documents that are used to formally support projects and test equipment/test fixtures as required.
  • Operate/maintain vibration table and generator test fixture equipment
  • Implement design changes to test fixtures and cables as required.
  • Assemble, test and debug test fixtures and informal test procedures
  • This position may require knowledge of SOX / 404 internal audit controls and related documentation.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree (AS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Electronics Technology or related field/ equivalent mechanical/electronics military schooling and experience required.

Extensive Mechanical technician experience may be considered in lieu of formal education. Total qualifying experience must meet the years, duties, skills and proficiency required to perform the position level standards.

  • Demonstrates proficiency (typically 4-6 years of direct experience in the essential functions of the position)
  • Experience in using computer-based tools and procedures to perform, document and track testing
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team structured environment and support extended business hours

Physical Abilities:

  • Manual dexterity
  • Occasionally lift heavy (< 40 lbs.) items
  • Color differentiation

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to high voltage
  • Exposure to LN2
  • Exposure to power tools
  • Exposure to chemicals
  • Moderate noise environment

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a US Person (under ITAR rules) to be eligible.

This compensation range is specific to Washington State and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At Astronics AES, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,059 - $99,088.
