About the Organization Established June 15, 1971, Valley Community Services Board is a publicly funded organization where citizens of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta and Highland Counties can receive Behavioral Health, Substance Use and Developmental Services services. Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Description

Valley Community Services Board is seeking licensed, or licensed-eligible clinicians to provide behavioral health and substance use services to adults and their families in individual and group settings.

Benefits:

  • Up to 10% compensation increase available for obtaining relevant certifications.

  • Accrue up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year from year one. PTO is immediately available upon accrual.

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Manages the general ledger in partnership with the Accountant and Director of Finance.
  • Generates and analyzes financial reports to identify key trends or areas of concern.
  • Leads the effort to prepare and submit monthly financial reports and other required reports, including the Performance Contract, Medicaid Cost Report, and others.
  • Assists with internal and external audits of financial records.
  • Develops and documents business practices to ensure long-term department continuity.
  • Supports the development of the annual budget in partnership with the Director of Finance.
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Governmental Accoutning Standards Board (GASB).
  • Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPPA).
  • Auditing standards.
  • Internal controls and separation of duties best practices.
  •  

Skills Pertaining to:

  • Sound judgement.
  • Critical thinking.
  • Financial data analysis and descision making.
  • Written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
  • Computer use, including Microsoft Office, electronic databases, or similar programs.

Ability to:

  • Effectively utilize advanced features of Microsoft Excel.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Take appropriate initiative while recognizing appropriate professional limits.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with teammates and external partners.
  • Manage competing deadlines and prioritize effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • At least three years of experience working with financial management software.
  • At least three years of progressive responsibilities in Accouting, especially with month-end closing procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounts, subsidiaries, accounts receiveable, and accounts payable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience in healthcare accounting or related field strongly preferred.
  • Current professional license, such as CPA, CMA, or similar.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Dynamics.
