RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares all food served to residents, staff, families, and visitors for meals, activities, and special events. Assists the Dining Services Director (DSD) as requested in ordering, receiving, and stocking groceries received from vendors. Prepares food that is consistently high in quality: (1) meals are in accordance with established menu, (2) meals are tasty and nutritious, (3) meals are attractive in appearance, (4) meals are served timely and at appropriate temperatures. Is aware of any special dietary need and prepares and serves meals accordingly to residents with such special needs. As instructed by DSD, assists in training Cooks and Dietary Aides. Communicates with DSD regarding unsatisfactory performance by dietary staff. Maintains kitchen and food in accordance with local and State health department rules and regulations and company policy. Observes proper hygiene and sanitation procedures in all aspects of daily duties. As instructed by DSD, performs routine cleaning and equipment maintenance. Is additionally responsible for assisting in clearing and cleaning dining tables and dining room and in laundering table linens. Attends all meetings and in services as requested by Executive Director or DSD Is observant and aware of any situations or occurrences in the facility that may pose a safety hazard to residents or staff. Report such observation immediately to supervisor. Performs job duties in accordance with safety rules. Is available to work at times, days, or positions other than those scheduled as requested by DSD or Director. Performs other duties as may from time to time be requested by Director or DSD.   Position Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate for Cook must possess exemplary work ethics and the ability to supervise staff in the absence of the Dining Services Director. Must have English reading and speaking skills to follow written recipes and communicate with residents and staff. Will preferably have minimum of one year experience in institutional cooking. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull minimum of 40 pounds. Must be able to move about the facility quickly and be able to physically assist residents and/or staff in event of an emergency.   EOE Statement We are an equal employment opportunity employer.
