Location: Durham, NC; Gaithersburg, MD; South San Francisco, CA; Waltham, MA

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a PhD (preferred) or master's degree in statistics or biostatistics for a 10-12 week internship during the summer of 2023. 

AstraZeneca will have multiple full-time summer biostatistics internship openings for approximately 10-12 weeks (May/June to August/September; dates flexible).

As a biostatistics intern, you will work closely with an experienced statistician to work on one statistical topic from clinical trials.

Potential topics include but are not limited to:

  • Bayesian borrowing
  • Covariate adjusted GSDs
  • Novel method for comparing AESIs across trials
  • Operational characteristics of various spending functions
  • Dose optimization in early oncology
  • Sample size re-estimation
  • Pooling of stratification factors
  • Go/no go criteria in phase 3 studies

These statistical methodology projects will have direct applications to oncology, rare disease, cardiovascular and respiratory disease areas. Interns will have the opportunity to work with experienced statisticians and collaborate across various functions. At the end of the internship, you will be expected to present your work within AstraZeneca Biometrics.

 
Position Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a PhD (preferred) or master's degree in statistics, biostatistics, or related field.
  • Good working knowledge of R and/or SAS.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
