Base Wage $26.98 - $29.65 per hour based on education and experience  
Description

SAL Community Services (SAL) and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships, a program under SAL, is seeking a Grant Accountant who will be the subject matter expert for the Early Head Start (EHS) grant. This includes maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial statements and completing all grant-related functions. 

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Grant Processing and Reporting (30%)

  • Prepare grant reports for review by the CFO, EHS Director, executive leadership, Policy Council, Finance Committee, and Board of Directors.
  • Monitor coding and allocations between programs and the EHS grant.
  • Generate, audit and file payable reports along with supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile and analyze all related general ledger journals, ledgers, and/or other records on a monthly basis for accuracy of coding.
  • Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, company procedures, and rules and regulations regarding proper use of State and Federal Grant funds.
  • Assist with any and all EHS audit preparation and needs.
  • Oversee period close processes to include monthly, quarterly, and annual timeframes.

Budgeting (25%):

  • Assist in preparing and tracking annual EHS budgets and EHS program.
  • Prepare budgeting cost analysis to be utilized during budget planning.

Account Analysis and Financial Reporting (25%)

  • Review financial data to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting, in addition to preparing financial expenditure projections and assist with financial analysis as needed.
  • Prepare detailed notes to explain variances to Board of Directors, Finance Committee, Policy Council, and management.

Qualifications:

Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or an emphasis in Accounting with at least three years of experience, must obtain background clearances, be proficient in accounting software databases and Microsoft Suite, be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, be able to travel or have reliable transportation, be able to complete physical tasks such as sit, stand, stoop, climb steps, and lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Additional detail will be provided prior to an interview.
