Position Summary:

As the Lead Licensed Massage therapist at Edgewood Tahoe you offer extensive experience in different modalities including Deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, sports massages, prenatal massages, and hot stone massage. You are passionate about the order and cleanliness of the spa and our guests ensuring uninterrupted serenity. As a lead, their focus will be on on-going training and education in the treatment room for all providers. Essential Functions:

  • Understand and execute the inventory system of the spa back bar/dispensary. Report all back bar needs to the spa manager.
  • Attend all trainings offered by skin care/massage supplies vendors.
  • Communicate the skill and performance level of massage therapists to the spa manager.
  • Responsible for protocol development and on-going training of massage therapists. Sign-off massage therapists on new treatments before they do treatment on a guest. Serve as a mentor to all therapists.
  • Oversee that the treatment rooms are inspected daily.
  • Consult with guests before massage to identify and evaluate areas requiring therapeutic treatment. Assess their expectations, and asks questions related to pain or discomfort and to learn and/or update their medical histories as necessary and appropriate to the scope of treatment.
  • Perform requested or suggested massage techniques, that may include deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, hot stone therapy, prenatal massage, and/or sports massage.
  • Occasionally communicate with the guest throughout the massage to ensure comfort with pressure levels and techniques being applied.
  • Provide a relaxing environment for clients.
  • Demonstrate and educate guests on methods to soothe and strengthen targeted muscles and tissues at home; may provide reference materials such as printed diagrams and materials or links to websites and videos for further guidance and instruction.
  • Establish a good rapport! Know our spa menu and promotions.
  • Maintain product knowledge.
  • Coordinate with staff and management on VIP’s, special requests, group arrivals, etc.
  • Work with management to improve the guest experience. From guest recovery to outstanding inquiry.
  • Maintain guest room key storage.
  • Take time off the appointment book, if necessary to meet once a week, with the Spa Manager to discuss provider business.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • Two years or more experience preferred as a Licensed Massage Therapist
  • Must have valid Nevada Massage License
  • Experienced in customizing services to enhance clients’ spa experience, in accordance to the clients’ physical and medical needs.
  • Well-versed in talking with clients regarding symptoms, medical history, and preferred results.
  • Functional knowledge of executing professional boundaries with clients and maintaining confidential information.
  • Proactively offer guidance on posture development, stretching, strengthening, and general relaxation.
  • Demonstrate ability to assess clients to find imbalances, painful or tense areas of the body.
  • Address inappropriate guest behavior as per the hotels standard operating procedures for Inappropriate conduct for guests and therapists.
  • The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly effective professional.
  • Previous experience in hospitality would be preferred and commitment to delivering a high level of customer service. Proven experience in a luxury spa environment is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Polite and confident with a great deal of patience.
  • Ability in multitasking and time management.
  • Aptitude in resolving issues with guest-focused orientation.
  • Computer proficient.
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
