SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Parts Clerk is responsible for maintaining parts storage areas and ensuring the availability of parts for the
Fleet Maintenance Department by procuring supplies in a timely and cost effective manner while maintaining compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Order supplies, parts and equipment necessary for Fleet Maintenance operations.
2. Generate purchase orders in computer system.
3. Receive incoming deliveries in a timely manner and with accuracy by verifying against purchase orders.
4. Receive invoice information into electronic maintenance systems.
5. Routine follow up on parts on back order with vendors.
6. Communicate with Fleet Maintenance staff to coordinate and supply necessary materials needed for daily operations.
7. Communicate with vendors for supply orders.
8. Monitor inventory levels.
9. Use of company passenger vehicles to procure supplies as needed.
10. Participate in all company training programs.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
1. Meet all general qualifications for employment.
2. High School Diploma or GED required.
3. Meet company and state standards for driving record check and maintain a good driving record.
4. Meet company, state, and school district standards for criminal history check.
5. Pass physical examination.
6. Pass drug and alcohol screening.

 

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
1. Possess general experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.
2. Possess strong knowledge of inventory management.
3. Possess a solid understanding of inventory-related best practices.
4. Demonstrate strong organizational and housekeeping skills by keeping parts storage and counters organized in a detailed manner, clean and uncluttered.
5. Demonstrate proficient data entry and general computer skills.
6. Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-motivation.
7. Possess basic knowledge of vehicle parts, maintenance and repairs.
8. Ability to effectively utilize parts manuals and manufacturers build sheets.
9. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
10. Demonstrate professional communication with all vendors and Dean staff members.
11. Demonstrate a professional appearance.
12. Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holidays which includes full availability during Michigan State Police inspections.
13. Additional skills may be required to perform additional task(s) specific to work location, department or line of business.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to perform physical requirements of the job including but not limited to: standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling and prolonged physical exertions.
2. Ability to routinely lift up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
