SUMMARY

Set up all types of Molding and Sizing presses to produce and size powder metal parts by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Follow all ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Procedures and Work Instructions relevant to your work area.

Clean powder off press, remove tailing barrels, and remove tooling from a press, when an order has finished its run. Complete an End of Run Ticket and return all adapters and tooling to their designated areas.

Review the Molding Schedule to determine next job for set up and tooling that is required.

Must possess the ability to set up any press with any set of tooling entirely on his/her own. This includes all presses that lower-class Die Setters can set up, as well as the 880 Ton Press and the 500 ton Hydraulic Press. Remove old tooling and get the press ready for the next set-up. Put new tooling in the press and set tools. Set up straight wall, all types of flange dies, and spherical tools. Make any necessary press adjustments and run first part samples for the approval of QA. Inform supervisor or lead-off that the press is ready for production.

Set up PIP and repair if needed, put fingers on, line up, and set timings, air core rods, and air heads.

Check the density of the parts and make sure that the part is within the proper size and weight according to the part specifications.

After set up is running, recheck to see that all tools are locked in place and that the sizes and weights are still holding. Make necessary adjustments to presses when parts are out of specification, and make necessary changes to maximize the press speed.

Set up Dyna Slides and turntables so the parts slide down from the molding press to the Molding Operator to be put into trays or gages.

Report any worn or damaged equipment. Replace worn mix hoses and defective shoe gaskets when mix leaking occurs. Perform minor press maintenance.

Assist in the training of operators and inform them on handling parts, inspection techniques, and have pallets or racks ready for production. Train and assist other Die Setters and Trainees.

Fill out all necessary paperwork or reports (breakage, inspection, production, and QA).
