Primary responsibilties are to build, repair, and modify plastic injection molds and fixtures of extremely complex and precise nature with minimal instructions. Work with a cross functional team of Tooling Engineers, CNC machinists, EDM machinists. Assemble a mold of any complexity with no supervision to meet customer's approval. Plan and schedule jobs to meet desired delivery date within the amount of time quoted. Disassemble and trouble-shoot problems with a mold and arrive with a plan of action to correct the problem within a reasonable cost and time span. Inspect electrodes for EDM process of extreme complexity with no supervision. Perform any inspection procedures efficiently and in a cost-effective manner with no supervision. Is capable of wiring a complete runner less mold with little supervision. Is capable of figuring out the timing on a rack and gear mold and assembling molds with hydraulic cylinders. Operate all necessary equipment in a safe manner in the shop efficiently and with no supervision. Make adjustments on appropriate machine to correct accuracy whenever necessary. Capable of explaining work to be done, to an outside vendor and prepare needed prints or sketches for vendor to work from. Operate a computer with master CAM software. Takes responsibility to see the jobs are completed on time. Train and guides fellow Tool Makers whenever needed. Help develop and document new procedures to be more efficient on machine tools. Wear safety equipment that is relevant to the position to the job being performed, or the equipment being used.   Position Requirements High school Diploma/GED required Valid identification and the ability to legally work in the United States. 2 years technical or trade school with an emphasis on tool making. 5 years mold making in a tool shop environment with extensive experience in precision surface grinding and form grinding; Two years’ experience working with CNC milling, EDM, and Wire processes. Technical mathematical skills, such as: geometry, trigonometry, mechanical drafting. The ability to multitask, run several projects at the same time without losing the ability to complete them on time and within customer specifications. Communicate with other department, direct report, customers in a professional and respectful manner. Basic computer skills (Microsoft) & ability to run Mastercam for viewing designs and making prints required to manufacture components. To build plastic injection molds safely within customers specifications in an efficient manner. Knows complete function of the EDM process and understands electrodes. Proficient knowledge of all process within the shop. Proficient understanding of 3D CAD designs and 2D prints. To use precision measuring tool commonly used in the mold building trade. Walking and stair climbing required in office/shop area. Must be able to lift 70 pounds and move heavier objects in a safe manner using proper equipment.
