Your New Role At Societal:

We are looking for a Buyer II. In this role, you will be responsible for arranging the purchase of raw materials, supplies and services on behalf of Societal CDMO San Diego. The position will support other departments in supplier selection, defining specifications and ordering practices that reflect the best interests of the company.

How You Will Make An Impact:

  • Partner with appropriate functional areas to evaluate suppliers.  
  • Partner with project teams to determine material requirements the for identificationsupplierslier and purchasing.
  • Maintain supply chain map for new projects where appropriate.
  • Obtain pricing information, lead times and Minimum Order Quantities.
  • Request and appropriately distribute necessary regulatory or technical information for raw materials.
  • Provide support in identifying vendors for sourcing of raw materials.
  • Place orders for products and supplies ensuring compliance with appropriate specifications and approved vendor list.
  • Ensure timely communication regarding order status, potential delays, or changes from the initial purchase order to end users.
  • Track metrics related to vendor management (on time delivery, quality of product received etc.).
  • Resolve supplier issues and ensure corrective actions are taken when needed.
  • Develop and maintain professional relations with vendors.
  • Facilitate competitive bidding process when required.
  • Serve as liaison in negotiations between Societal CDMO and supplier.
  • Collaborate with Materials Management personnel to identify expiring material.
  • Cross train in other areas of Materials Management.
  • Regular and reliable attendance on a full-time basis [or in accordance with posted schedule].
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices.
  • Embodies Societal’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture.
 
Position Requirements

   Ideal Candidate Will Bring:

  • Generally requires High school diploma or GED with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience  or bachelor’s degree in business related discipline with a minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • SAP or similar ERP program experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Purchasing
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Effective time management, and organizational skill
  • Ability to multitask, follow up, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Takes initiative and work independently
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of word processing software and spreadsheet software
  • Exhibits professional behavior and communication with internal and external stakeholders

Benefits:

The California base pay range for this position is estimated to be $69,102 - $90,696. The base pay offered may vary or fall outside of the range provided, depending on multiple individualized factors including but not limited to the candidate’s job-related qualifications, internal equity, market data and geographic location.
