Summary:

This Human Resources Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve by providing recruiting and sourcing activities for Van Meter’s 25 locations. This position partners with HR team members to ensure the right talent is brought into each position. Key responsibilities include traditional sourcing strategies, developing local and regional recruiting plans and resources, implementing proactive recruiting strategies, ensuring Affirmative Action and compliance for hiring practices, and managing key recruiting metrics. This position will interview and phone screen a wide-range of people for a diverse number of roles, narrow the candidate pool, and provide their professional recommendation for top talent to move forward in the selection process. In addition, this person serves as a capable member of the HR and will be folded into HR projects and Progress P work. This individual promotes our culture, our 5 P’s and our purpose to create lasting value for those we serve.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Develop proactive and creative sourcing and recruiting strategies
  • Provide sourcing, staffing, and interviewing services to fill roles in a timely manner
  • Execute recruiting plans and conduct regular follow-up with HR team members and hiring managers
  • Understand the roles within Van Meter to effectively fill position with the right skill set
  • Establish strong relationships with hiring managers to assist in building strong teams
  • Develop, implement, and manage an effective internship program
  • Ensure compliance with hiring policies and procedures
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups
  • Coordinate and attend college recruiting initiatives and career fairs
  • Research and implement social and professional networking sites to identify and source candidates
  • Participate in team projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in continuing education and training to enhance knowledge of our company, market changes, and industry trends

Job Requirements/Specifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field
  • 2-3 years professional human resources experience; emphasis in sourcing and recruitment preferred
  • Project-based worked experience
  • Strong computer skills including experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to travel on occasion
  • Ability to work in the office a minimum of two days per week
