This is a non-exempt position; the employee will earn time and a half during overtime hours worked.

Position summary: Working shift lead for pouch making equipment. You will be expected to give direction and monitor pouch making operators. You will need to make adjustments to your machine to insure product quality. You will need to perform all quality testing for the pouch making process, comply with the manufacturing schedule while maintaining a safe and orderly workplace. You will need to effectively communicate with your team and with as well as the other shifts.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • Attention to detail

  • Fork-lift truck experience
  • Organized and thorough
  • Willing and eager to learn
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to be a team player
  • Some computer skills helpful
  • Must have some mechanical aptitude
  • Previous experience running and setting production machinery

 

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Operate pouch making machine
  • Perform all set up activities
  • Perform minor adjustments to machinery to insure product quality
  • Work closely with pouch making operators to insure product quality
  • Provide direction to crew as needed
  • Leads or participates in various continuous improvement activities
  • Perform all product changeovers cover for breaks and lunches as needed
  • Be part of corrective action teams as needed
  • Report any potential food safety, quality of food defense concerns to the plant manager or quality personnel
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and quality systems
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • This is a Safety Sensitive Position (drug test is required)

    Non-essential skills and experience:
  • Other duties as required

 

 

 

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
