SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting both the Business Office and Operations teams. This person will focus on financial analysis of new lines of business and new contracts for its impact to the Company and will ensure timely implementation on all cost reporting matters. This person will also carry out cash posting activities and support various Treasury functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Record sales revenue along with daily cash receipts and transfers.
  2. Create financial statements with Company directors evaluating impact of new business ventures or contracts.
  3. Promote financial sustainability and mission alignment while assessing contracts for compliance with policies & procedures.
  4. Assist with grant application and reporting functions ensuring the Company is in compliance with grant reporting requirements.
  5. Collaborate with accounting and payroll staff to ensure accurate job costing and that all costs and salaries are allocated properly to various lines of business.
  6. Record monthly investment activity while ensuring allocation of funds are in compliance with restriction guidelines.
  7. Develop, implement and maintain spreadsheets to help track all expenditures activities.
  8. Investigate, monitor and resolve issues relating to expenditures and spending trends.
  9. As necessary, prepare schedules for Board Reports inclusive of expertise in Excel and Power Point.
  10. Serve as a resource for financial information and guidelines to department supervisors, managers and directors.
  11. Work with Finance Manager and VP of Finance to implement best practices and internal controls to create accurate reports.
  12. Assist with preparation of schedules for month-end and year-end closings.
  13. Prepare year-end annual audit schedules with external auditors and assist in the preparation of Form 990.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Outlook, Project and Access; Great Plains, Crystal Reports and/or Report Writer and general use of office equipment.
  • Must be able to read and write in English fluently.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced aptitude of contracting and procurement practices, business law, finance and accounting principles.
  • An aptitude for numbers and financial content.
  • Skill in managing multi-faceted projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Ability to interpret instructions and deal with multiple variables
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Quantitative Discipline with five (5) years verifiable work experience in the Accounting/ Finance field.
  • Preferred: Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Quantitative Discipline.
  • Preferred: Experience with Lawson Financials.
  • Preferred: Experience in both public accounting and private industry.  
  • Preferred: Experience in both for profit and nonprofit industries.
