IT Systems Support Technician 


The IT Systems Support Technician is responsible for coordinating with various departments at the Museum to assist with training and supporting staff in the daily care and maintenance of the museums various systems. This person must be able to maintain various systems in daily use at the museum, supporting and training staff on a regular basis. Aside from offering necessary training/support to staff, the Technician must be able to work across departments and with external contacts to support and maintain various systems, including [but not limited to] Point of Sale, Financial, and other essential databases.

Essential Functions:

  • Understand Museum processes in order to coordinate data management and system integration.
  • Manage relationships with relevant external support partners for both maintenance and training.
  • Assist with coordinating museum electronic data acquisition, storage, access, and utilization across departments and business areas.
  • Work with Director of IT in developing best practices in daily use and maintenance of the museums various databases.
  • Support Director of IT in all areas as needed.
  • Coordinate and provide training to staff for hardware and software applications as necessary.
Position Requirements
  • Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination and booster by date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination will be required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in systems integration and/or database management.
  • A working practical knowledge of the systems currently in use by the museum.
  • Willingness to receive training in various systems whenever needed to best support staff as directed.
  • Demonstrated computer software and hardware knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT systems and support.
  • Demonstrated ability to train others in the daily use of their respective software applications.
  • The ability to understand the strengths and weaknesses of staff while finding the best ways to assist them with developing the skills necessary to effectively execute their jobs.

Morgan, America's oldest commercial ship still in existence.
