Internal Communications Specialist

Position Description:

  • The Center for Policing Equity is looking for an Internal Communications Specialist to join our growing communications team.
  • Reporting directly to the Senior Comms Writer, the Internal Comms Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining our internal communications infrastructure, and ensuring consistent and timely communication of organizational initiatives and updates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Communications team and Talent & Culture to help deliver consistent messaging about organizational and program updates across all verticals

  • Developing and maintaining an internal communications calendar to ensure we're meeting deadlines and engaging effectively with staff

  • Support the execution of all items on our internal communications calendar across all channels, including newsletters, email updates, and communications via Slack channels

  • As needed, assist in the planning of town halls to help align messaging across all teams

  • Aid in the development and support ongoing maintenance of Google doc libraries to ensure information is current and accurate

  • Support the communications team by helping to edit and distribute content and calendar invitations

  • Work to proactively seek and compile cross departmental content and distribute this content internally in a timely manner

  • As needed, propose new mechanisms for engaging staff, including collaborating with Talent & Culture to develop and implement employee engagement events


  • 3-5 years experience in organizational communications, employee communications, agency or other roles that contribute to creating an overall employee experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with Salesforce and SLACK a big plus - the Internal Comms Specialist will update data related to both platforms

  • Education, experience, or other demonstrated interest in racial equity and public safety preferred
