JOB SUMMARY:
Self-starter, able to work independently. Responsible for creating welcoming, supportive and inclusive member experiences by sustaining smooth operations of the group fitness department and building(s) in accordance with YWCA Health and Wellness brand expectations, facility standard operating procedures and department policies and best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Support to Group Fitness Team:
Assist with management of Group Fitness Department using cloud-based administrative tools.
Work to achieve department goals collectively and individually that support the department vision and the mission of YWCA Minneapolis.
Collaborate with team members, leaders and across departments to develop innovative health, wellness and fitness events for YWCA Minneapolis.
Build positive relationships demonstrating a commitment to creating exceptional experiences and quality customer service for members, guests and co-workers.
Anticipate, prioritize and appropriately manage all situations that arise in the studio and facility.
Serve as lead resource for internal and external customers at assigned site(s).
Staff Leadership:
Model excellent communication, teamwork skills, and the YWCA Mission though cross-departmental work.
Provide direction to staff to ensure quality customer service, compliance with YWCA policies and procedures, and accountability to job expectations.
Collaborate with onsite leadership during shifts to support building operations, including member conflict resolution, maintenance issues, and staff support.
Manage departmental projects and staffing as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
This position reports to the Group Fitness Manager who reports to the Vice President of Health and Wellness. The incumbent will interact with several levels of the Health and Wellness Department and Health and Wellness customers. Critical relationships include front line staff, the coordinator team and the manager team and the members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED;
Certified Group Fitness, Yoga or Pilates instructor.
Organized, detailed and results oriented.
Demonstrated business writing skills.
Exceptional customer service skills and proven ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
Competent in Microsoft Suite.
Proven ability to manage conflict in a professional and solution focused manner.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.
Must be professional while dealing with ambiguity.
Must have excellent communication skills—written and verbal.
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills with internal & external customers.
Preferred:
Experience as a supervisor or team lead.
Working knowledge of health & wellness.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
Must be able to walk continuously, use stairs and kneel and crouch.
