Senior Manager, Sustainability and Climate Action 

Description

The Senior Manager, Sustainability and Climate Action will be responsible for incorporating climate considerations in and supporting the Academys commitment to sustainability. You will work within the Office of Impact and Inclusion and will report into the EVP, Impact and Inclusion. You are a strong, collaborative project manager with the ability to track and maintain oversight of multiple projects or initiatives at the same time. You understand, support, and have a level of expertise in sustainable solutions and are aware of, or involved in conversations and work related to sustainability in entertainment. You are skilled at building and maintaining relationships across departments and teams. You are research and data-oriented with the ability to inform, educate, and influence individuals at all levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage subject matter expertise to support in the to the determination of annual sustainability priorities and goals for the organization
  • Integrate climate change considerations into Academys operations; Develop and implement internal processes and policies to improve operations
  • Develop goals and KPIs to measure impact and inform future goals and priorities
  • Advise Academy departments as to the opportunities to improve operating practices in line with best practices
  • Support Academy membership and staff awareness and adoption of sustainable actions through design and implementation of engagement, training, and development initiatives
  • Represent the Academy in industry conversations related to sustainability; and inform organization on key updates and best practices
  • Design and implement sustainable event guidance for adoption and use across the organization
  • Partner on the continued adoption of sustainable production best practices for the live broadcast of the Oscars
  • Support in Academy membership engagement, awareness
  • Manage the maintenance and/or achievement of sustainability focused standards and certifications (i.e. LEED Certifications)
  • Manage the internal staff Climate Action Team
  • Partner and maintain relationships with key consultants, partners and subject matter experts on collaborative efforts such as ongoing carbon footprint assessments

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience, including at least 2 years project management experience; direct experience in sustainability related projects or work is advantageous
  • Exceptional program/project management skills with a proven track record of successful program development, launch and management
  • Excellent capabilities in project planning software, spreadsheet software, and presentation software
  • Detail oriented, with a natural orientation for collaboration, efficiency, priority setting and achievement
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to manage across multiple stakeholders and at various levels
  • Data-oriented and analytical with comfort for conducting and managing research projects
  • Proficiency in data collection and analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build relationships, and deliver results in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Must be extremely flexible, proactive, and highly organized with the ability to shift priorities, multi-task, and handle heavy workflow processing.
